I BELIEVE it's time for a new slogan...

So, after the second drug-related, shooting-related, multi-vehicular accident I've been less than a block away from in the last two months or so, the EPM is unofficially deceased.

I suppose there's a possibility that "it will buff out" but I'm guessing when you see the pictures (forthcoming; keep your shorts on, you ghouls!), you'll be inclined towards skepticism.

For one thing, the car was approximately 25 feet farther forward than it was when I parked it, and it had hopped the curb at a particularly axle-destroying angle. Oh yeah, and it was hit so hard that the stereo was thrown into the back seat. That'll teach it not to wear its seatbelt.

Things don't look good! I'd be happier if I thought there was any chance that I'd come out ahead here, financially, but I'm guessing there isn't...

UPDATE: Yeah, that'll probably buff out...

UPDATED UPDATE: Sadly, the online version of the story doesn't have the photo, but they took theirs from a couple blocks up the street anyway, so it's not nearly so impressive as the above... also, apparently only 2 of the 3 were actually shot. Which means the third guy now has delusions of invulnerability... great.

Brief Flashes of Inspiration

Beautiful Netflix, always suggesting crap to me that I would never have heard of otherwise... I don't know why it decided I wanted to see this random Korean movie (probably I watched too many Zatoichi movies in a row, and Netflix thinks all Asians look alike) but I'm glad I listened.

The cinematography in this movie, while not exactly tricky (I mean, you put a camera in a glorious place, all you really have to do is remember to take off the lens cap) was amazing. So I've decided that this is where I want to live now:

Fall

That's right, in a tiny Buddhist monastery floating on a raft in the middle of a lake in the mountains. Do you have a problem with that? Well, fine. You're not invited.

Here's some more gratuitous shots that I found on the same webpage:

And of course, one of my favorite parts, the "foyer":

Gate

The monastery is on a little raft, presumably anchored to the bottom of the lake (as it doesn't move, OR DOES IT???) but the entryway is a little pier that doesn't seem to have been built with much care to whether or not the deck is above water, as it frequently is not. The doors are always there, though.

OK, so maybe I won't be living there. But I think I know an imaginary person who might be (although probably not with all the Chinese characters carved into the raft)...
